I hung around all day for this? YES!

Today had to be the most boring day ever. Literally, I didn't do much more than format my external hard disk (>2GB file support! Pity it won't work with the PC...) and drive Larissa and her friend around. Other than that, I was seriously bored as all hell.

That was until around 11p. My mom came home and urged me to watch the Battlestar Galactica season finale. I'm still a bit in "that didn't just fucking happen" mode, but I never quite had a good feeling about that Dr. Gaius I'm-so-fucking-special-because-I-see-images-of-a-dead-Cylon-woman Baltar. He's fucked now. Somehow all of his decisions seemed to be rather... dumb. If you're confused, go find the Battlestar Galactica mini series, season one, and the rest of season two. It should be all on iTunes, but I'd be willing to lend what I've got to those who are interested. Just when I think Ronald D. Moore has gone all soft on us with episodes like Final Cut (scroll about three screen-fuls down), or Sacrifice (seven screens down), he just goes and completely blows my fucking mind.

I am also now in possession of a few Admit Two tickets to a special screening of V for Vendetta at the IMax theater! *squee!* I always love a good dystopian adventure (Did you know that Hugo Weaving is in that movie? I suddenly wish I hadn't visited the Wikipedia page on that movie... now I know who he plays. *sad*)

I'd say it was worth the wait.

Well, I go out to hang out with [info]m_geshmak soon. I worked open to close today, with the store opening at 9, and closing at 2. The closing took longer than I expected. I was also quite bored. In that time, I was bored enough to play with Inkscape, an open source equivalent to Adobe Illustrator. I have to say, compared to Illustrator, it sucks. But it's all I got. I managed to do an appropriate trace of the emblem of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol. I also did some work with the GIMP, and produced my new userpic (seen here).

I'm finding myself rather hyped about Battlestar Galactica coming back on the air, after it's hiatus. I'm having trouble remembering the last time I was this excited about seeing a television show. The closest would have to be when I was little and The Next Generation was on the air. What can I say, I'm a sci-fi junkie, and the Sci-Fi channel only gives me a paltry fix.

I'm surprised Sci-Fi hasn't expanded. Hell, Nickelodeon is now a broad network of its own. Two Nickelodeon channels, two NickToon channels, a channel devoted to Nickelodeon Games and Sports (A.K.A. G.A.S.), and Teen Nick. What has Universal given us? Sci-Fi. Hell, in Britain, Sky One (who I believe contributed to the making of Battlestar Galactica, and also broadcasts it in Britain before we get it in the States), or is it TEN (I don't know English television/satellite networks, I'll be honest), broadcasts Galactica in high-def! Even ESPN has a pair of High-Def channels! Discovery and one or two of it's affiliates are High-Def, I think.

Honestly, America is begging for more Sci-Fi, and Fantasy. Universal already owns televised sci-fi in the states, and their only contender is Paramount, who gives us our Star Trek fix on Spike TV (though we only get Next Gen and DS9, no Voyager or Original Series. Exception is Enterprise which is sparsely broadcast on UPN and USA... or is it TBS?) with bits of Seven Days (There's a reason that show was cancelled...).

And people wonder why Battlestar Galactica was pirated so much. BSG looked better being played from my XBox than it did off of the cable box.

Well, I'm overdue, and gotta run.
